FAQ's

Where are sessions held?

All sessions take place in my home studio in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire -a small and cosy boho-inspired space designed to feel relaxed and inviting. The studio is located at the bottom of my garden, that is a few steps down from the house. It’s filled with soft, neutral tones, natural textures, and a calming atmosphere, making it the perfect setting for newborn and family photography.

What do I wear for my session?

For newborn sessions, I strongly recommend neutral, light tones such as creams, whites, beiges, soft browns and light denim. These colours photograph beautifully and keep the focus on your baby and family, creating the soft, timeless look my work is known for.
Please avoid black, bold colours, strong patterns or logos, as these can distract from your images and do not suit the light, natural style of my sessions. A simple outfit such as light denim jeans paired with a white or cream top is always a favourite and works perfectly on camera.
While I am always happy to offer guidance, styling choices are the responsibility of the families and I cannot guarantee a specific look or feel if clothing recommendations are not followed.

-Outdoor sessions
I recommend wearing earthy tones during outdoor sessions, burnt orange, browns, creams, deep greens are always so lovely to give the images a warm feel.

I do also have a client wardrobe which includes a various of sizes from newborns- 6years
And a dress wardrobe for any mums that would like to wear something a little different.

if you're unsure please feel free to get in touch and we can discuss further.

What happens if Baby/Child doesn't settle for the session.

As a mum myself, I completely understand that little ones can be unpredictable, and patience is key.
For newborn sessions, it’s very normal for babies to fight sleep or have a little cry - that’s all part of it. I work at a calm, gentle pace and will always give plenty of time for feeds, cuddles, and breaks. Most babies do drift off eventually, but if your baby becomes too unsettled (for example, due to colic or reflux) we can simply pause and reschedule for another day that suits you both.
With older children, it sometimes takes a little while for them to warm up, and that’s absolutely fine. I never rush into taking photos; instead, I give them time to explore and feel comfortable in the studio. Bringing along a favourite toy or comfort item can also help them relax and feel more at ease.
My goal is to create a stress-free, positive experience for everyone, so we can capture beautiful moments - no matter how long it takes.

How do I book a session.

For each session I take a £40 non-refundable deposit to secure your session and the remainder is paid on the day of your session.
You can use the contact form below or message me on social media.

Who can come to sessions?

For newborn sessions, I photograph immediate family only. My studio is a small, calm space and the seating area is limited, which helps keep sessions relaxed — especially when siblings are involved, as too many people in one space can quickly become overwhelming for little ones.
Dogs may attend by prior arrangement only and solely for family photographs. Once these images are complete, dogs must then leave the studio. As the studio space is limited, permission is given at my discretion and some breeds may not be suitable. Any dog attending must be calm, able to follow commands, and comfortable sitting when needed.

Outdoor sessions
These are usually immediate family only too unless discussed beforehand, please feel free to bring your furry human along to theses sessions!

What happens during a newborn session

Before arriving I always recommend bringing baby just in a sleepsuit to avoid disturbing baby too much before the session. If bottle feeding I advise to bring a few extra bottles as babies may need topped up during the session. If Family and Sibling images are taking place, these usually take place at the beginning of the session which means after siblings have had their images they can then leave- this is usually with Dad or another family member. if this isn't possible I just ask that you bring something to entertain them as it is a small confined area and they may get bored waiting.

Newborn sessions are baby-led and as much as we can plan to do certain poses- safety is my number one priority, if I feel baby won't do a certain pose then I will move on to another pose/prop to ensure baby stays settled and comfortable.

I provide all props and outfits for your session, if I haven't got something in that you would like then I would get it in. I will always go above and beyond to create the most special images for you and your family!

The studio is warm for baby so I advise not too wear any heavy clothing, please feel free to bring a change of clothes for after your images that way you can sit back and relax while I do all the work. During the sessions I remain hands on and take care of everything - changing, cleaning and feeding, unless stated otherwise, this just means baby doesn't get unsettled going from parents to me and we avoid waking baby.

Can I pay up my session?

I totally understand how important family sessions are - we’re capturing memories that will last a lifetime! Life moves so fast, and these moments deserve to be paused and cherished forever. I also know that everyday expenses can add up, and I never want finances to be the reason you miss out on something so special. That’s why I offer flexible payment options, including payment plans, PayPal Pay in 3, and credit options, to make it easier for you to book your session without stress. Just send me a message stating this is what you'd like to do and we can arrange something that suits your needs.
